Media programs support all areas of instruction, providing media resources, facilities, and services to the instructional staff and students. Through the unified approach to media services, resources are available in a variety of formats to meet various learning styles and interests. Flexible scheduling of media centers allows individuals or groups to use the center when needed. This concept of media service contributes to the development of life-long learners and to individual self-fulfillment (wording copied from source). Media
centers are the center of instructional support and informational
service for each school and are organized for maximum accessibility and
optimum service to students and staff.
Media specialists are committed to creating an inviting,
stimulating environment and to planning with the instructional staff to
provide effective educational experiences for students.
Formal and informal instruction in the use of media resources and
equipment should focus on the development of skills and attitudes
necessary to promote life-long learning. School media specialists should plan and work with
instructors to identify, select, and provide the best resources and
activities to meet learner needs (wording copied from source). Gwinnett County Public Schools Media Specialist Handbook. (2004-2005). |
